Experience You Know,
Leadership You Can Trust
My experience on council, both as a business owner and a volunteer, has taught me the value of giving back to the community. It is my honour and privilege to serve on council.

Service to community isn’t just something I talk about, it is something I believe in and have practiced my whole life. And that’s a record I am proud to stand on.

A recordI’m proud to stand on
About Mark
Service to community is something I’ve practiced my whole life.
I learned, from my Dad, the late Don King, that service to others was something to be embraced. He would know. He served his community as a member of council, his province on various boards and committees, and his country as a proud World War Two vet who was wounded in action.
So I learned at an early age: you give back to the community, and the community will give back to you.
Being a member of North Bay City Council is a privilege and one I do not take for granted. I’m proud of the work I’ve done in tandem with a number of council colleagues and members of City staff. We don’t always agree with each other, but I always respect their opinions and appreciate their advice and input. I believe we accomplish more when we work as a team.
I’ve always spoken my mind and I’ve always worked hard on the issues I feel are most important and serve the best interests of the community.
The work ahead
We need to
The last four years of council seemed to focus more on personality differences, disagreements and integrity commissioner investigations than on the issues that matter most to you. We have a lot of work to do, moving forward.

Change the culture at City Hall
Manage our financial affairs better so North Bay can be affordable for seniors, for families and for those just starting out.

Prioritize services
Take a business approach to justifying every single dollar invested on behalf of the taxpayer.

Invest in infrastructure
Put greater emphasis on, and investment in, long-term fixes for crumbling roads and sidewalks.

Rebuild senior relationships
Repair our relationships with the senior levels of government and leverage them for more federal and provincial dollars.
My commitment to you
I will
Your concerns have always been my concerns: keeping taxes low, compassionate care and services for those less fortunate, affordable housing, infrastructure upgrades and ongoing maintenance, diverse economic development and greater employment opportunities.
Prioritize tax dollars
Justify every dollar spent on behalf of the people who pay the bills.
Restore leadership and respect at City Hall
A healthier culture, and a council that works as a team.
Invest in roads, sidewalks and core infrastructure
Long-term fixes, not another round of patchwork.
Secure more provincial and federal funding
Rebuild the partnerships that bring outside dollars home.
Support affordable housing and compassionate social services
Care for those less fortunate, and homes people can actually afford.
Grow the local economy
Diverse economic development and greater employment opportunities.
Ask tough questions
Because taxpayers deserve answers, not silence.
I’m proud of my record, but I also know North Bay needs change. We need better financial discipline. We need a healthier culture at City Hall. We need stronger partnerships. We need more focus on roads, infrastructure, affordability and growth.
The next council needs experience. It needs stability. It needs accountability. It needs people who are willing to ask hard questions, work with others, and put taxpayers first. I will do all of these… and I will get results.
